On Sunday, January 10 at 10 a.m., come to the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum’s Outdoor Discovery Center, entrance on Muser Drive, across from 174 Angola Road, Cornwall to learn about Orange County’s largest mammal the Black Bear. While human populations have been increasing, bear populations have also been expanding. Spend the morning with Environmental Educator, Carl Heitmuller learning about this greatly feared animal that shares our landscape. Discussions will include: how to avoid bear conflicts, bear biology and anatomy using “real” bear skulls and pelts. Finish up the program with some bear role playing games. This program is recommended for adults with or without children, and children ages 5 and older. On Sunday, January 17 at 10 a.m., the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum presents Simply Squirrelly! Squirrels can be cute, entertaining and very smart! Come learn about the different squirrels in the Hudson Valley. Join Environmental Educator, Pam Golben, at the Museum’s Outdoor Discovery Center, entrance on Muser Drive, across from 174 Angola Road, Cornwall, for a fun fact filled morning about these “Nutty Neighbors!” Afterwards, stay and create a simple squirrel feeder for your yard…the squirrels will be glad you did. Take a walk weather permitting in search of these furry friends. Recommended for children ages 5 and up.
