 <p><span><span>In the Gilded Age and beyond\, high fashion decreed that violets were the flower of choice for Valentine's Day\, Easter\, and a fragrant corsage. At its height\, in the years before World War I\, Rhinebeck\, New York\, growers shipped millions of sweet violets (viola odorata) to New York City\, Philadelphia\, Boston\, Chicago and beyond. </span></span><span><em><strong>Sweet Violets</strong></em></span> <span>includes vintage photographs and postcards\, rare film footage\,19</span><sup><span>th</span></sup> <span>century music and literature. All these\, plus interviews with herbalists\, historians and commercial growers\, tell the neglected story of sweet violets and their effect on a small Hudson Valley town.</span></p>

SUMMARY:Free Concert with the United States Coast Guard Band
DESCRIPTION:<p>On Sunday\, February 12 at 2 p.m. in Leamy Concert Hall\, the  United States Coast Guard Band welcomes guest conductor Timothy Reynish  to the podium. Mr. Reynish conducts a program of new exciting music all  previously unheard in Leamy Concert Hall. Esteemed British composers are  featured throughout the concert\, including Kenneth Hesketh's exuberant  \\"Masque\\" and Richard Rodney Bennett's \\"Trumpet Concerto\\" featuring  trumpeter Musician First Class Tom Brown. Soprano Musician First Class  Megan Weikleenget sings Bernard Gilmore's arrangement of  \\"Five Folksongs for Soprano and Band.\\"</p>
