On Friday, May 3 at a special time, 7:30 p.m.., the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum will be hosting: An Evening Frog Walk! Join Environmental Educator, Pam Golben at the Museum’s Outdoor Discovery Center, on Muser Drive, across from 174 Angola Road, Cornwall, to learn how to identify frogs by their unique calls. Meet the Museum’s native frogs and practice frog monitoring skills with an evening visit to the wetlands in search of these fascinating amphibians. “About ten species of frogs and toads can be found in the Hudson Highlands,” said Golben. “Males of each species make their own unique sound during mating season to advertise for a mate and to defend their territory.” Wear appropriate footwear and bring a flashlight. For adults with or without children and children ages 5 and up. This program is weather dependant and the rain date will be on Saturday, May 4. Singles and Sociables outings welcome all adult hikers, single and non-single, aged 18 and above. No reservations required. Meet at the Minnewaska State Park Preserve Awosting (lower) Lot. This is a moderate, 7-mile hike led by Martin Bayard (845-229-2216). New hikers are strongly encouraged to contact the leader prior to the hike for information on hike levels, what to bring, and other information. Hike leaders determine whether or not to allow pets.

Call the hike leader for the meeting time, location, and fee by Thursday 5/2. Singles and Sociables outings welcome all adult hikers, single and non-single, aged 18 and above. No reservations required. This is a strenuous, 10-mile hike led by Gary Curasi (845-534-2886). New hikers are strongly encouraged to contact the leader prior to the hike for information on hike levels, what to bring, and other information. Hike leaders determine whether or not to allow pets.

The Bob Babb Wednesday Walks welcome adults of all ages and levels of ability aged 18 and above. No reservations required. Meet and park along Pine Road, just off Butterville Road. This is an easy, 4-mile hike. Please be prepared with appropriate gear for the conditions and type of hike. In case of inclement weather, call June Finer, Hike Coordinator, at 845-255-7247 between 7:30-8am.
