Sponsored by Rondout Valley Growers and the town of Marbletown.
SUNY Ulster, Stone Ridge Campus, Vanderlyn Hall, College Lounge
The 2013 State of the Farm Summit will focus on the essential role of family farms and small scale agriculture in our communities and region. The event will feature local farmers and keynote speaker Congressman Chris Gibson addressing the challenges and rewards of growing on the land in the 21st century.
Keynote speaker -- What is happening in New York to support our local farmers? -- Congressman Chris Gibson.
What role will we play in feeding 9 billion people by 2050? And, more importantly, how can we do it in a way that will enable our farms and our farmland to remain viable producers of abundant, fresh and healthful food. Congressman Chris Gibson offers an engaging and compelling big-picture look at the future of food in the state of New York and the farmer's role in its production; a question-and-answer session will follow.
