Complete Streets in Kingston – Let’s Move Forward
Kingston’s Complete Streets Advisory Council (CSAC) and Live Well Kingston is pleased to offer a workshop designed to increase our city’s capacity to move forward with Complete Streets solutions in Kingston.
The workshop titled Complete Streets in Kingston, Keys to Implementation – Let’s Move Forward will take place on Tuesday, October 29 in two sessions from 3-5 pm and 6-8 pm at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ulster County Education Center in the Kingston Plaza across from Herzogs. The CSAC hopes to accommodate many people’s schedules by offering the two sessions. To find out more details and register, visit: http://www.livewellkingston.org/home/complete-streets.html
During the first session, attendees will participate in a mini-case study of the Kingston Plaza and the surrounding streets. We will walk in the Kingston Plaza and on the streets to observe barriers to walking, biking, access to persons with disabilities, and efficient public transit.
During the second session, we will explore potential solutions to the observed barriers in session one, learn principles of effective Complete Streets implementation and tips for moving forward, and discuss strategies for funding Complete Streets project. It is not necessary to attend both sessions, and participants will get value out of attending one session or the other or both!
Planning Board Members, City Council Members and Leaders, Staff of Planning, Engineering, Economic Development, Community Development, and Public Works Departments, Pedestrian and Bicycle Advocates, Complete Streets Advisory Council Members, Representatives of Local Businesses and Business Associations, and concerned citizens are encouraged to attend.
