Thanks for listening to WKZE.com!
Streaming WKZE On-line with your Mac
We know it has been frustrating to stream WKZE on your Mac in the past, but we've recently had success this way:
Download Windows Media Player 9 for Mac OSX here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/mac/mp9/default.aspx
Once the player is installed, try each of the following links until they connect. (In the File, Open from URL menu)
http://www.superiorwirelessstores.com
mms://wms2.mainstreamnetwork.com/wkze-fm
http://wms2.mainstreamnetwork.com/wkze-fm
If this still doesn't work, here's a fool method of listening to our stream on a Mac: Launch Windows Media Player 9, then click on File, Open URL. It will open a window with an open box. Cut and paste the following into that box:
http://www.mainstreamnetwork.com/listen/dynamicuasx.asp?station=wkze-fm
Then click OK. If you really want to be clever, you can then save it to your favorites! From then on, all you have to do is load Media Player and click on the link in your favorites!
Please e-mail us to let us know if this did or did not work for you. Thanks!
Streaming Live on your PC
PC users: if you're having trouble getting the stream to work, try clicking on this link: http://www.mainstreamnetwork.com/listen/dynamicuasx.asp?station=wkze-fm
If you're still having trouble, change the default buffering in Windows Media Player to :30 seconds. Go to Tools, Options and then click on the Performance tab. In the middle of the page, you'll see Network Settings.
Linux users: if you're having trouble getting KZE to stream, try the Kaffeine Player, one of the better front ends for Xine.
If all else fails!
If none of these options seems to work for you, then try this: go to Shoutcast
by clicking on the name. Then put WKZE in the Search box on the left.
When it comes up, click on the Tune In button. This will give you an
MP3 stream with whatever MP3 player you have installed on your computer.
Tips for making your WKZE webcast sound great!
To make your live KZE web stream sound as good as possible, try playing around with some of the features that come built in to Windows Media Player. Any changes you make to Windows Media Player on its own will carry over to the mini-player you get when you click on the Listen Live button on our home page. As an example, go the View, Enhancements, Show Enhancements. Now you will see many features at the bottom left of Media Player. Scroll through them using the little arrows. Try the Graphic Equalizer...it can make a huge difference. Use it to create a "modified smile" pattern, by having it start low at the left, rise as it moves right, and the go low again in the middle, rising at the 2/3 mark, and the lowering at the far right. Click on the arrows until you hit the SRS Wow Effect. Turn it on, and the turn the Wow effect itself off by moving the slider all the way to the left. But move the slider of the TruBass effect to 30 or 40% and see what that sounds like. Scroll through the arrows again until you find the Quiet Mode feature. Turn it on and select the "little difference" setting and see what that does.
By playing around with Windows Media Player, you can make WKZE's web stream sound virtually like a quality radio feed. After all, it's all about the music!
