Mid-Hudson Women's Rally for Rights
A Mid-Hudson regional public meeting to commemorate International Women’s Day (IWD) will be held in New Paltz Thursday, March 7, on the SUNY campus in spacious Lecture Center 100 at 6:30 p.m. The event was initiated by a Call to Action distributed by a committee of 12 women from Ulster, Duchess and Orange Counties and organized by the Hudson Valley Activist Newsletter. It is supported by nearly 30 groups including the New York Civil Liberties Union and the Hudson Valley Area Labor Federation AFL-CIO.
“We urge all Valley residents who have been angered by attacks on women’s rights throughout America to join us March 7,” said Donna Goodman, an editor of the Activist Newsletter. “We say, ‘Stop Violence Against Women, Stop the War on Women’s Rights, Defend Reproductive Justice, Full Equality for all Women Workers!” Goodman urged men to attend the event in solidarity with the women’s struggle against rape and domestic violence in the U.S. and throughout the world, as well as to defend women’s rights.
